Tonight and Monday: An arctic ridge is building and is there to stay for a little while. Expect some cloudy periods, light N winds becoming light to moderate from the NE and cold temperatures -20c lows
Tuesday: The ridge is gaining more strength spreading more dry and cold weather. Light to moderate NE winds, partly cloudy skies, alpine temperatures around -18 C.
Wednesday: More of the same. Mainly clear skies, cold temperatures and light winds from the N. Arctic outflow warning
Strong outflow winds and cold wind chill values near minus 20 will spread southward tonight.
An Arctic ridge of high pressure has settled over the northern interior. As a result cold Arctic air has been spilling through the northern coastal passes and generating strong outflow winds and cold windchill values near minus 20.
The Arctic ridge will push southward through the interior today and tonight so that Arctic outflow is expected to start impacting the central and South Coast valleys and passes. Cold wind chill values near minus 20 are forecast for the Central Coast - inland sections and Whistler tonight.
Cold windchill and strong outflow winds are expected to persist through Wednesday at least and Arctic outflow warnings may be extended to other South Coast regions.
