Inversion setting up, hope for late next week

A rather dry cold spell has continued for the last week and a half. At times temperatures dipped to below -15C in the alpine and -10C in the valley. Outflow winds will continue overnight in the valley as the high pressure begins to break down. The alpine has already warmed to around 2C while cold air remains trapped in the valleys by the inversion. A system Friday tracking out of the Gulf of Alaska may bring some hope late next week.
