The pineapple wins again

We received 44cm of snow in the alpine and about 35cm in the valley yesterday before the warm pacific air moved in around noon. Old man winter didn't stand a chance with the pool of warm air pumping in from the south. Freezing levels yesterday reached 2000m at times, and was around 2500m overnight. A building ridge of high pressure for the week ahead will deflect any precipitation. High freezing levels to around 3200m will continue through Thursday afternoon when a bit of cooling is expected. The long range looks warm and dry. Avalanche danger will remain high for the next few days, and the backcountry probably isn't worth it anyway. The valley XC ski trails got the snow they need, and also the lower mountain received some good base material.

A strong warm southerly flow of air

Continues into next week, very warm out in the pacific
