Big storm

Updated Friday 19:00h
I'm Yesterday's storm brought rain to the Roundhouse elevation with high winds and lots of blowing sideways rain. 66mm of rain and 5cm of snow at pig alley yesterday. Overnight saw another 5cm with 20mm of rain in the gauge. Today we're in between systems with some light snowfall possible. Another big storm hopefully not quite as warm will arrive tomorrow. 70mm of precip is expected with it along with winds 70-120kmph from the southeast. Freezing level predicted to be in the 1200-1500m range. Tomorrow will be a good day to test patience and the waterproofness of your rain gear. Lifts will be running slow also with high winds predicted.

Series of Pacific storms will bring periods of heavy rain and strong winds for the next several days.

A series of moist Pacific storms will continue to impact the South Coast for the next several days. The next storm will reach the coast by early Saturday morning. Wind warnings were already issued for many South Coast regions for this storm. This system is also expected to bring significant rainfall amounts close to warning criteria. Up to 50 mm of rain over the Lower Mainland and Howe Sound area and up to 70 mm over West Vancouver Island are possible Saturday through Saturday night. Rainfall warnings may be issued when the forecast amounts become more certain.

Several more storms will bring strong winds and heavy rain to the region early next week. Associated with these storms, southeast winds can reach up to 70 to 90 km/h with daily rainfall amounts of 40 to 80 mm over parts of the South Coast. Heavier amounts are likely for the west side of Vancouver Island.
