The cold air is coming

Forecast

113mm of precip in the guage at Whistler creek today as a atmospheric river from Hawaii has been pointed at Whistler for the last 48hrs.  At times yesterday and today the freezing level peaked to above 2100m. Tonight and early tomorrow the cold air moves in as a large arctic outbreak from the interior displaces warm tropical air from the SW. Unfortunately except for the highest peaks most of the precipitation has fallen as rain, and will now re freeze overnight leaving bullet proof ski conditions.

Temps at 8:30 pm Thursday
Top of peak chair: Wind 60 gusting 100km/ph from the south -0.74C
Round house: Wind 30 gusting 95 km/ph from the west +1.5C
Pig Alley: +2.5C with 67cm of snow at the weather plot
Whistler Creek: +7.5C with 112mm of precip recorded through the day

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Arctic outflow warning for:
=new= Fraser valley - east including chilliwack
=new= Whistler
=new= Central Coast - Coastal Sections
      Central Coast - Inland Sections
      North Coast - Inland Sections.

Strong outflow winds and cold wind chill values are expected or
occuring.

An Arctic high will continue to build over interior b.C. Causing
Arctic outflow conditions over sections of coastal BC. Strong winds
will combine with cold temperatures to give wind chill values of -20
tonight and Saturday morning.

Any outdoor activity exposes you to an increased risk of frostbite.
Be prepared for unusually cold temperatures and strong winds.

Arctic outflow warnings are issued when bitterly cold air flows from
the interior to coastal communities and the outflow winds create
wind chill values of -20 or less for 6 hours or more.

The tail end of tonight's system, cold air moving down is evident
