Clouds of smoke

Yesterday at noon before the winds switched to inflow
Wildfires in the Elaho now 20,000ha and upper Pemberton 12,00ha valley raged yesterday sending a huge plume of smoke into the air. We will continue to see lots of smoke until the flow becomes a bit more south westerly later today. The flow will switch back to outflow winds later this week.

Special weather statement in effect for:
Whistler

Forest fire smoke over the BC South Coast.

Forest fires in the coast mountains north of Whistler have produced a large volume of smoke which drifted over much of the inner South Coast. The smoke is now covering Southern Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland and extends back to the fires in the coast mountains.

Weather conditions have pushed the smoke to the coast but winds will shift to an onshore flow so that cleaner marine air should move in from the west today.
